FREE LOCAL CLEANING / OPTIONAL AI WITH SIGN-IN AND CREDITS
Old Manga Scan Restoration: Free Scan Cleaner + Optional AI
Clean yellowed, tilted, dusty manga scans in your browser: remove paper tint, fix levels, straighten and trim, remove isolated specks, and compare before and after. Free and local. An optional AI restoration (sign-in, credits) redraws pages with a generative model and is clearly marked as such.
What the free cleaner does
Each page is analysed on a small copy: paper colour, ink level, whether it is black-and-white, a tilt estimate and dark scanner edges. The suggested settings remove the yellow cast and set the paper to white and the ink to black; you can change every value, straighten by hand or with the estimate, rotate by 90°, trim edges and optionally remove isolated specks. Nothing is redrawn, inpainted or colourised, and the original file is never changed.
What AI restoration is, and is not
The optional AI mode sends a copy of the page (at most 2048 px on the long side) to the image model configured on this site. It is a generative editor, not a pixel-exact super-resolution: it can remove blur, noise and JPEG blocks, but it may also change lettering, faces or screentone and invent details. Its output is at most about 2048 px on the long side, often smaller than your scan. It needs sign-in, costs 1 credit per page, asks for confirmation before any upload, and keeps the result separate from your original so you can compare and choose.
Batches, comparison and export
Import single images or a CBZ/ZIP/EPUB/PDF. Settings belong to each page, with undo, redo, reset and apply-to-all; tone settings applied to other pages follow each page's own paper and ink. Compare original, cleaned and AI versions side by side with synchronised zoom, then download a ZIP, CBZ or PDF with the version you chose for every page, or continue straight to translation.
Limits
Free cleaning runs in a background worker of your browser, one or two pages at a time; about 200 pages, 768 MB or 16 MP per page is comfortable, and phones have less memory. Despeckle is off by default because a lone one-pixel dot, such as tiny punctuation in a low-resolution scan, looks the same as dust. Automatic perspective or page-curl correction is not offered: rotation and trimming are manual, with a tilt estimate you can check.
Free cleaning runs entirely in your browser, in a background worker: no upload, no account, and page pixels are never sent anywhere. The restoration engine is downloaded from this site's asset domain and checked by SHA-256 before use. AI restoration is a separate, optional step: only after you sign in and confirm the price and the provider notice are copies of the chosen pages uploaded.
