Compress Manga Pages Without Losing Screentone
Shrink or convert a chapter of manga pages to JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF in your browser, with a per-page detail check for screentone and small lettering. Files never leave your device.
Which format to pick
Black-and-white pages with screentone usually do best as PNG: it is lossless, and a page stored as one gray channel is often far smaller than the colour file it came from. JPEG and WebP suit colour pages and photo-like scans; below about quality 85, small lettering and dot patterns start to smear. AVIF gives the smallest lossy files when the optional encoder is available. "Keep format" re-encodes each page in its own format and is the safe choice for mixed folders.
Resize only when the reader needs it
Phone and tablet readers rarely show more than 1,600–2,000 px on the long edge. Use "Long edge" to cap larger scans; smaller pages are never enlarged unless you allow upscaling. Resizing and then compressing gives the biggest savings.
Check the result where it matters
Each page is compared with its source tile by tile. "Zoom in to check" or "may be blurred" means the encoder removed fine detail somewhere: open Compare, jump to the marked tile and hold the button to flip back to the original. When a result is not smaller, the original is kept automatically.
Limits
Everything runs in a background thread of your browser, a few pages at a time. Batches above about 300 pages or 1 GB still run but may exhaust memory, especially on phones, so work a chapter at a time. Pages above 40 MP may fail on mobile. Safari cannot encode WebP. AVIF and the MozJPEG/OxiPNG encoders are optional downloads and stay off until this site enables them.
Runs entirely in your browser, in a background worker. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed; closing the tab discards the work. Optional encoders, when enabled, are downloaded from this site's asset domain and checked by SHA-256 before use.
