What happens when a page or model request fails?
Known failure versus unknown status
A safe rate-limit response can be retried with bounded backoff. A network timeout or unclear upstream error is not proof that nothing happened: it enters a reconciliation state rather than immediate paid retry.
Credits and operator review
Credits stay reserved while the provider outcome is unknown. An authorized operator may attach verified returned artwork or mark a confirmed failed attempt and release credits, with an audit record.
Export remains separate
A failed archive export may be retried independently. Original, skipped and failed pages keep their positions unless you explicitly request a success-only export. The manifest makes partial delivery visible.
